Head Start / Early Head Start Program

Head Start is a national program that promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through educational, health, nutritional, social and other services to enrolled children and families.Our program provides comprehensive services to expectant mothers, infants, toddlers and preschool children. The program serves eligible families in Rowan, Davidson, Stanly, Montgomery and Moore counties. The program promotes the well-being of children and their families by creating trusting and positive relationships that encourage parents to become engaged in the early development and learning experience.

Family Services

This Family Services program assists those who choose to make a change in their life. For families and individuals enrolled in this program, the agency provides supportive services to help them overcome crisis for things like housing, utilities, childcare, education and training. Family Development Specialists provide comprehensive supportive services; each family or individual can focus on the problems and barriers they have encountered. Families and individuals complete this program in one to three years and during this time they: Secure employment or increase their income, obtain education and /or vocational training, make better use of their income, obtain and maintain standard housing and build a strong work ethic. The program is funded with federal community services block grant (csbg) funds.
