Through funding from the federal Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) program and other funding sources, Community Action’s Department of Family Services offers the Self-Sufficiency Program to families and individuals in Rowan and Cabarrus Counties who seek to move from poverty to self-sufficiency.
For those accepted into the Self-Sufficiency Program, Community Action provides support to individuals seeking to (1) immediately be placed in a position of gainful employment; (2) further their education to obtain gainful employment; and (3) pursue vocational training to obtain gainful employment. Eligible participants in this program shall become self-sufficient, which is life-changing for the person, the family and the overall community.
